Volunteer Opportunities  with the GVR Metropolitan District

Volunteers do not get paid.  Not because they’re worthless… but because they’re priceless – Sherry Anderson submitted by Walt Cross, GVR Volunteer for many years!

There are several opportunities currently for volunteers within the community to participate in one of the GVR Metropolitan District’s working committees.  These committees generally meet once a month for the majority of the year and depending on the specific committee, more at specific times of the year.  Please complete the Interest Form to express any interest you may have in sitting on one of these committees.

Currently, we are soliciting participation on the following committees:

  • Planning and Implementation Committee
*The Planning and Implementation Committee is a group that works to gain feedback from the community and set up proposals to the Board after analyzing different opportunities for the District.  If you have survey experience and or a statistical and creative thinking background, this committee would be good for you.
  • Community Garden Steering Committee
*This committee works to provide strategic planning, evaluation, make recommendations regarding the District’s community garden, and to address operation issues affecting the District’s community garden. This committee meets the first Wednesday of the month October thru April as needed.
  • Community Programs Committee
*This committee works with the program staff for the District and helps identify and evaluate programs and helps work to enhance programs for the future.  Ideal candidates are those that have worked with children’s programming in the past or who have a passion for youth.  This committee meets once a month, typically on the first Thursday at 9 am.

Special committees listed below are formed for the purposes described below, when needed for the set purpose, and terminated upon completion of their identified task(s).

  • Financial and Budgeting Committee
*This committee works with administrative staff and the Board Treasurer throughout the Budget process to help recommend a proposed budget to the Board of Directors in October each year.  This committee doesn’t meet regularly throughout the year, but may meet often during the budget planning part of the year (September – December).
  • Conservation Committee
*This committee works to review areas of the community where savings can be created with reduction in water costs, staff time, maintenance and the use of outside vendor expense, in connection with the District’s landscape activities. The committee will work to find areas that can be updated and determine plans for changes that would reduce the costs. The committee will then make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding those changes for review and approval.
The Master HOA For Green Valley Ranch Also Has Several Independent Committees That Always Need Additional Volunteers.  Please Consider Helping Out Your Community Via Volunteering On A Committee.
